Bar Instant

I spent the rest of the afternoon in thought and instead of spending time on the papers, I prepped my lecture talking points.  Mostly the papers were just that --papers.  I thought about how best to be frank with the students and tell them that I'm not interested in their papers, in how well they write, or other nonsense--they should have learned that by now and if not this was not the place.  I'm interested in what they think and if they can make themselves understood.  I hate talking to people-- if they can write it down it provides a tolerable way to communicate with them and learn more about what they think and who they are.  Around 11pm I headed out to Bar Instant with a plan to meet my friend Erica from the UK.  She was fun in small doses and a great person to go out with since she could talk to anyone including to herself about anything.  I ordered a drink and sat down since there was an opening at the bar, waiting for room on the dance floor to open up.  Erica was standing near by chatting with a group of people she had just met. Out of the corner of my eye I saw the girl that was with El Capitán.  She had a very gamine look dressed all in black with ballet slippers and a pale rosy pink leather jacket with ruffles down the front in both leather and chiffon.  Our eyes met and the corners of my mouth involuntarily turned up.  I lost her in the crowd and looked around, it was fun to be in a place where everyone was beautiful and relaxed.  The usual mafiosos were in the corner talking on their ear pieces.  Eventually, I gave up on Erica and worked my way to the dance floor loosing track of myself for a few hours occasionally alternating between glasses of water and/or a cocktail.  At 5 am I met up with Erica and we decided to walk around the early morning city until the public baths opened at 6 am.  I didn't have class until 2pm and could probably take a nap and be fine.
