We didn't realize that walking to Tomales Point was so bloody popular so we went spinning right by it to park at the less popular lot and strode off down the hill to arrive at the beach in no time. This was supposed to be a roughly 10 mile walk but it was a mere 20 min walk...something was wrong!Lush watercress on the way.
Once at the ocean, which reminded me of a slightly larger and less dramatic version of Tennessee Valley, we realized we had taken a wrong turn and had to return to the more popular trailhead just before and go the high road to see Tomales point.
It was a mostly dry landscape punctuated with flowers here and there and marshy areas too.Lovely naked ladies acting as a curtain for the elk to lounge behindClumps of daisies that seemed to not care that it was dry.Giant yellow lupine that seemed to go on and on.See if you can spot the antlers in this photo.Lovely mystery robin's egg blue striped ground bee. But wait! It's a Sand Wasp (Bembix Americana) https://bugguide.net/node/view/79847also a new to us a tiny bright orange butterflyand one of many different shapes and sizes of black beetles.Beauty at the end...At the end was great beauty to the left.And also to the right...this is looking from where we had lunch and you could hear the most lovely chimes on the Tomales Point buoy.
