Hiking vacation
Sunday we took the Randall spur and took a left at the Olema Valley Trail up the Bolema then another left on the Ridge Trail and another left to come down the Teixeira trail that was quite overgrown and out of control but fun. Then the final left on Olema Valley Trail to circle back to our starting point. 10.55 miles, with an elevation gain of 1,803 ft. It took us 4 hours and 14 mins. Average pace 23'44"/mile. Included a nice lunch.
Monday pulled over at the Tomales Bay Trail after Hog Island Oysters and walked down to the marshy beginning of the Tomales Bay turned around at the sighting of a large snake. 2.44 miles, with an elevation gain of 268 ft. It took us 1 hour and 13 mins with much standing around gaping at the beauty and taking photos. Average page 30'00"/mile.
Tuesday hiked the favorite up Steep Ravine and down the Matt Davis. This is one of the singularly most beautiful hikes and includes a ladder and many bridges and steps, so many that my knees ached at the end. This is a Stinson Beach loop back to your starting place. 7.89 miles, with an elevation gain of 1,797 ft. It took us 3 hours and 22 mins. Average pace was 25'39"/mile. It included a nice lunch with a view at our special spot to gaze down the golden hills and watch the hawks play.
Wednesday was a new hike, we left Bootjack parking lot and walked up the Matt Davis toward the east and then took the Nora trail up to West Point Inn and then continued on Rock Springs trail to Mountain Theater and then down Bootjack switchbacks to the parking lot. 4.64 miles, with an elevation gain of 798 ft. It took us 2 hours and 4 mins. Average pace was 26'46"/mile. It included a nice lunch at a bench at West Point Inn with a fabulous view under a small oak tree.
Thursday we descended from Pantoll on Alpine trail to Van Wyck Meadow and continued on the TCC trail and then down and up Old Mine Trail (away from Pantoll) and then went on the Dipsea trail towards Muir woods before realizing we should turn around then we headed back on the most beautiful of fire roads to Pantoll that paralleled Old Mine Trail. 5.48 miles, with an elevation gain of 987ft. It took us 2 hours and 21 mins. Average pace was 25'52"/mile. It included a nice lunch at a natural stone bench at Van Wyck Meadow.
