Maine Event: Day 39

Yay! It's Friday so many things we want to do and it's almost the end of September meaning we only have one month left. Since we are both working full time it really doesn't feel like we have been here very long. That said, I'm also excited to come back home and have a real kitchen and to see all of you! 

The gray clouds continued today and for the last few hours, we have had serious wind and occasional rain which is expected to last through the weekend. However, a little rain won't stop adventurers. 

I've been learning about the native people of Maine which consist of four main tribes. This link is pretty good. I was looking under the calendar and saw an image and article about The Burnurwurbskek Singers. I know nothing of what it is like but the picture reminded me of the intensity of the Tuva throat singers in the movie Genghis Blues. (here is another review). It's a low-budget very cool documentary. One of the people involved in making the documentary was Lemon DeGeorge who is also our tree trimmer. I found out about this because I remembered his name and was googling for his number and found this. We watched it some years ago and it is delightful. I wish I could see these Burnurwurbskek Singers.

This is May Street, one of the little streets I love and it is beginning to look like fall.

Nice brick house, next to it behind the big tree is one that is a near-identical twin. Boy, they sure don't build 'em like they used to.

This beautiful tree is a shagbark hickory tree. I couldn't spot any hickory nuts on it or under it but I may have found a place to buy some.

More mushrooms...this is in the schoolyard just near our house.

Beautiful sky on an early evening walk to the store for oats and other sundry items.

We also took a one-minute video of the trees in the playground of the school directly in front of our apartment. The sound of the red oaks talking is completely wonderful.
