ME II: Autumn at last
Today it really felt like Fall. The sun was warm but your nose stayed cold (and a little runny) and your fingertips were chilly. It was the first day so far this season that it felt like Fall more or less completely. The trees are starting to turn more and more each day. The sun is tipping into the southern slant.
We ate Emily's oysters (YAY!) and had leftover soup for dinner and had a nice walk on the Western Prom for the sunset. It was so clear we could see the White Mountains which are mostly in New Hampshire and on the edge of Western Maine. Pretty simple wonderful day. It's felt like Friday nearly all day but tomorrow is another work day that is jam-packed.
I love it here and I think I might be a tiny homesick. I miss you all. I miss my kitchen. I miss the fog. I miss Mt. Tam. That said, everything is wonderful here too and the slower pace and kindness people treat each other with are nourishing for the spirit.
I mentioned a few days ago that I got a new cookbook that is about Ukraine and the cooking culture and the relationship with the land. Many of it is recipes are of many years ago and harken back to a simpler time with memories and research. The author is trying to capture those skills and stories. It is a very fun book and the photography is amazing. It brings home the terribleness of this war.

The world is full of great beauty just look around.
Sending love, Tawnia
