ME II: Errand day

It's getting more and more like Fall here with the leaves changing color more every day. Even my friend, the giant Red Oak of Spring Street, has a few orange and red leaves at the very top. We got up early and went for bread at Standard Baking and circled back for our mail as it was delivered a bit late. Then we went to the farmers' market a bit late for lettuce and greens. Then we puttered around the house for a few hours. Matt worked on the app and I cleaned and did little household things. We managed to sneak out towards the end of the day for a walk in the Western Cemetary and up to the Western Prom for a subtle but wonderful sunset.

I don't know about you but local politics here are a hot topic. First LePage is up from Florida and going to run against Janet Mills for governor. She is amazing and hopefully will win. There are 13 items to vote on and five are from citizen referendums the remainder are from charter commission recommendations. I'm still floored at how organized the Democratic Socialists are here. Most of the "citizen referendums" are from the Democratic Socialists and they are about interesting topics that affect everyday life instead of what we have in SF which are mostly policy wonk topics about needing more money or corporate-funded confusion. I wonder how or why that is so.

The weather was very similar today as it was yesterday except it was cloudy more or less all day. The low was 41° and the high was 61°.

  1. Blac-capped Chickadee
  2. Northern Cardinal - we hear a lot of these – it's kind of surprising how hard a bright red bird can be to actually see.
  3. Herring Gull
  4. European Starling
  5. Rock Pigeon
  6. Nuthatch (sounded like red-breasted, but I'm not 100% sure)
  7. House Finch
  8. American Robin
  9. American Crow
  10. White-throated Sparrow - lot's of these now in flocks
