ME III: adventure!

We had a plan to go to Chebeague Island and at low tide walk to Little Chebeague which is a nature preserve. However, we discovered that we had been looking at an out-of-date ferry schedule and the timing didn't line up. Instead, we went to Peaks Island and walked around the perimeter which is about 5 miles. Because we were up early for our bigger adventure that didn't work out we ended up getting over to Peaks and back before noon.

Then Matt worked on getting Right to Left languages to work on the new website and I did domestic stuff like laundry and cooked a nice dinner including a French prune plum galette. Dinner was roasted chicken with delicata squash, roasted cauliflower with spices, fresh cilantro, and steamed broccoli. The galette crust turned out perfectly made by hand and rolled out with a jar. I used sugar out of the little packets for coffee and there were also packets for the "raw" or bigger crystalized sugar to decorate the crust. The whole meal was super fun. This is all to say that it is cool enough to turn on the oven!

Ferry dock.
Common Loon. The photo was taken from the ferry with the boat and the bird moving in opposite directions - hard to focus. Gorgeous bird.
Iconic Peaks view.
Diamonds for all.
Lovely marsh.
Folks here take Halloween seriously. Yes, it is still September.
Beach road. Aka: Seashore Ave.
Flowers along the roadside all of them volunteer "weeds"
Marsh number two. I do love marshes. You can see the cattails signaling that winter is coming.
Asters at a lake where we had a snack.
Cats of Portland
They look like Dahlias but we aren't sure there are so many flower shapes that are Dahlias.
Cats of Portland.
Chemical/Oil Tanker being shepherded by the US Coast Guard. Canada stores their bunker fuel here.

Have a delightful evening.

Sending love,

Very good birding - 24 species including a Merlin that flew in over the ocean through the (second) marsh:
