ME III: Dark Skies

Last night we saw a line of satellites or something like them coming in a line at varying distances from one another as far as the eye could see and they just kept coming. It was downright eerie. The only thing I could compare it to is a swarm of police or military moving trucks. It turned out to be Elon Musk's Starlink. That any one individual could own something that feels like a military operation is simply wrong. In looking this up it turns out that it is upsetting to others for more practical purposes such as interfering with astronomy. I also read another article about how they contribute to light pollution. The stars here are much more visible than back home but even so, I miss the dark dry night skies of rural Colorado, where you can see the Milky Way all summer. I heard that Point Reyes and virtually all of West Marin are looking to be designated as a dark sky area. Here is an article about becoming a dark sky community and has the story of Paonia!

Today was right in our comfort zone low of 48° and a high of 62°. It rained a little this evening unexpectedly and it seems like maybe it will be raining a little later this evening.

Evening walk. Alas, no stars as it was raining again.

Still feeling helpless - letting go of the feeling and trying to realize that we are all connected big and small with all the things around us.
