ME III: Rainbow

Today started off with a resplendent light and a little rain shower. Our low was 48° and our high was 56°. It oozed rain off and on all day. It hasn't fully dawned on me that our time here is almost up. We have 19 days left and then we are on the train back! Today was a regular workday with many meetings which always leaves me feeling like I've not done anything - even when they are important. I also paid another visit to the local USPS and I *think* I've gotten things straightened out.

Recently I've taken a break from the news to give myself some breathing room so I can sleep. In that space, I've been reading about Shinto shrines and trying to mesh what I randomly know about Shinto with what I'm reading. I was surprised that shrines are connected to specific deities, I thought different Kami lived in different elements of life and was surprised that they could also be spirits of "venerated dead people". Anyway, a small town north of Portland is Bath, Maine which has a Torii gate. We went through parts of Bath on our way up to Boothbay where the the trolls live at the Botanical Garden.

Good morning beautiful day!
Mint!

The camera doesn't really capture the quality of the light but it was amazing.

Have a lovely night.

13 species of bird, including the first Junco we've seen here. Not an uncommon bird, but nice. Fall migration is in full swing – many White-throated Sparrows and Yellow-rumped Warblers.
