Train Day 3: ME IV
On day three we spent the night in Chicago and had so much fun that there was a shortage of photos. We also had fabulous meals.
The first dinner was at the Girl & the Goat. Everything was served on small plates and we ordered the number they recommended. We had a style of Mexican Street Corn in a dish of spicy, sweet, and a little sour coconut milk that tasted like Thai red curry paste. It was topped with cotija, tajin, and cilantro. Followed by sauteed green beans in a fish sauce vinegarette with cashews and crisp garlic; BBQ pork belly with crab butter and grilled pickles and fingerling potato chips, grilled chicken skewers with cashew butter, mushroom oil, and crispy sunchokes, pan-roasted halibut with miso almond butter, green onions, and blueberry nuoc cham. We had Yuzu coconut milk cake with blueberry, almond coconut crunch, and coconut lime granita for dessert. The whole meal was both very good and interesting. Easily the best we've had in a long time. The Corn and the Yuzu Milk Cake stole the show both were supremely amazing. Here is an Instagram post of that cake. The next day we went to an old-fashioned Greek restaurant that served a large bowl of Horta (dandelion greens) and Greek baked vegetables along with grilled lamb and of course a Greek salad.
Anyway, we had a lovely time.
