Killdeer and the Coast Cafe

Today was another busy workday. It was very foggy again, but slightly lighter than yesterday. We are basically out of food, so we went out for dinner in Bolinas at the Coast Cafe. On the way and while we were in Bolinas, we heard Killdeer, which has huge romantic appeal for me because they are the song of my childhood when bringing in the cows just before sundown. The tide was very low, so we walked around the corner part that you look at from Stinson. If you keep walking, there are several houses right on the beach around the corner, and also a pathway up into town. It was a new revelation. Dinner was wonderful, we had OYSTERS (and other stuff).

This young Western gull (Larus occidentalis) was placing the tennis ball at the top of the sand hill and following it as it rolled down hill to the water, and then picking it back up and doing it again. Birds, dogs, children, and others all love to follow the ball and do it again!
Play is good.
