Event Night

Hesperian had an event this evening honoring a woman who, after she retired, volunteered for 25 years running the Gratis Books program. It's a program that supports sending free books to communities that can't afford them. She and a helper have kept track of requests, books sent, how they were used, captured stories, and also packed up the books and sent them out as volunteers. We estimate her impact to have touched 2 million lives.

In fine print at the Paramount Theatre in Oakland is EBALDC Building Community. Let's all do something to build community. There is so much awfulness that it's important to come together and make sure no one is isolated or lonely, facing the changing world order.
