It was a busy day today. Only one hour not in meetings. Didn't have a chance to think much, but on the way in, there were many birds. At lunch, a Great Egret flew over, probably coming from Lake Merritt. Strange site in the midst of urbanity.

Hesperian comes out of the liberation education movement that Paulo Freire started. Today we spent some time visiting the ideas of popular education and critical theory. In the future, we are going to work on how this can ground our work in building apps, social media, and other elements of our work.

Another avenue of deep thought is on the economic system. Clearly, this one isn't working. So part of that is reading Peter Kropotkin, Thorold Rogers, Sven Beckert, Robin Kimmerer, Tyson Yunkaporta, and also about the concept of the "well-being economy". Let me know if there are others I should be reading.

It's so wonderful to wake up with light in the sky, even if the sun isn't up.
