Schizocarp

No, it's not a crazy fish. We have been learning about Schizocarps since we cook so much with them. It started with cumin because we were making this lime-cumin-cilantro shrimp stir-fry this evening. It was delicious, by the way (added more cumin so they were cumin-crusted a little, and lots of extra cilantro, and let it cook down a little for added benefit). Who knew there were tiny seeds inside a fennel seed or a cumin seed! So cool. Clearly, we need to take our food apart more carefully and peer at it.

Today was a busy day. I'm on the social task force, which has a lot going on with someone leaving, someone getting married, a new book launch, etc. Also trying to release two different apps this week. Wheee!

You've probably heard of it:

This is spy-level intrigue with the radio, which uses numbers to communicate. Very cool.

The Ocean Cleanup, founded by Boyan Slat, has removed nearly 500,000 kg of plastic from the Great Pacific Garbage Patch (as of late 2025). https://www.instagram.com/reels/DVyf9IfAeb2/
