Quiet at the Coast Cafe

Today we had a lovely day. We had a leisurely morning and went into town for bread and a few groceries. We discovered two amazing breads: Danish Rye and Ancient Grain Whole Grain. Both are small loaf breads that are mighty dense and dark. Totally delicious. Especially with soft cheese and tomatoes or tinned fish and pickled peppers. The line was long, and when we left, the line was longer. We went on a nice walk in the morning, then came home and did a little work, prepped and cooked for the week.

Late afternoon, we headed over to Bolinas for a date. We went to the museum and walked on the beach. Then had an early dinner at Coast Cafe. Their fish tacos are amazing, as is the fresh blackberry pie.

Came back and went for our evening walk at Bear Valley up to Divide Meadow. Early in the walk, we came across the Pileated Woodpecker, whose loud, alarming call echoed. Near Divide Meadow, where we reverse course, we saw the Great Horned Owl.

Generally speaking, a perfect day.

I've been thinking about solar panels. They adorn the cottage roof where we are staying, but it's awfully cloudy here. Turns out there is new research in development for solar for cloudy weather. Perovskite solar cells absorb blue and green light. This light passes easily through thick clouds, unlike red. Also, there are bifacial panels that collect light from both sides, catching weak scattered light.

I'm lichen' you.
