Maine Event: Day 11

You know you are adjusting when 84° and a mere 58% humidity feels like regular warm summer weather. We had a nice long walk at sundown and were rewarded with the tail-end of a sunset.
I'm still stunned by all the brick sidewalks and the enormous brick multi-family houses. I'm sure a future post will cover some more of those but today is for beautiful things. 

This door is over by the Clark St. Community Garden and caught this on an early morning walk.

What is called a 'beach rose' with a pollen collector

Another amazing hibiscus...it's hard to imagine with all the flowers and plants and heat that winter and snow last until May here! 

Here is a daylight version of the blowup lobster (that is lit up at night) covering lobster cages with human remains. The "bait" in the cages is a bottle of rum and a six-pack of beer. The small Christmas lights make a mildly spooky gleam so you can just see at night. 

The wood piled up in the above image is a porch being built for a cabin on a hill somewhere North of Portland. It doesn't have a road so you can't drive to it so they got a 4 wheel to cart things like a built porch up there. Nor does it have running water. It does have an outhouse and they are saving up for a composting toilet. Maybe growing up without running water gave me a deep appreciation for not having to lug it into the house, make a fire to heat it, etc. No romance there at all for me. 

Tomorrow is the Saturday Farmers Market and other adventures! YAY!
