Maine Event: Day 10

Yes, it is still hot and this kind of weather is more or less usual for here - this time of year. The Portland area gets heat waves that take them up to the low 90s (had to ask people to make sure the numbers matched the experience). July is summertime and usually in the 70-80s with a few peaks and this year was cool and rainy and people were bummed as the cold winter lead to rainy wet summer boo. The end of July and August regularly gets heatwaves. I will add that the humidity really is similar to the bay area. I've always lived where the nighttime cooled way down, it's after 8:30 as I write this and it's 81° with 80% humidity (heat index is 84°) and absolutely no wind. It's nice for sitting on your porch but less nice to try to exercise in. A couple of you have asked about the weather so this is my spiel and here are the numbers in comparison for those of you who like this kind of thing. The top graph is Berkeley then SF then Portland. Note Berkeley hasn't been updated so the last 10 years have not been factoring in these years in which I'm guessing have been warmer. 

The no-name apple variety was much better than the Ruby Red. It was sweet and crisp and a little tart. Yummm. I think they were from the same farmer but these weren't labeled. How will I find them again? Our little corner market has several local apples and those are up next. 
This town really likes flags there are all different kinds. This photo doesn't capture it but this flag is probably 10 feet long. It's an absolutely ginormous flag. Also, far more houses have rainbow flags here than in SF. Things that make me go hmmmm... 

I've had a multi-day headache probably due to stressing out about our Afghan partner and his family. No news. Other than what I shared last night. I'll keep you posted.
Gratefully, the headache is easing and my spirits are coming back up. The heatwave peaked today and tomorrow will be in the low 80s and then the rest of the week in the 70°s. YAY!
