Yay, it's Friday and it's October 1. How did that happen? It definitely feels like fall now. Our low was 43° and our high 63°. We got in a trip into the post office early and after work a nice post-dinner constitutional walk in the beautiful west end where we live. 

I've been learning about making cakes. This is all because I got a perfect tiny chocolate bouchon yesterday from Standard Baking (there is a good picture on their homepage - check it out). It seems a worthy pursuit. In other food news, I signed up for a cooking class on Tuesday nights for the next 6 weeks that is being held online through USF. This means that Tuesday posts might be a bit meager. I'll let you know if I learn anything worth sharing. 

Overnight the Halloween decorations have arrived. Nearly every house has pumpkins out front. The theme is emerging.

In other news northern Maine, in Aroostook, is home to the world's second-largest solar system model that spans over 100 miles. Here is the news article about it. I love how geeky and down-to-earth everyone is in the news video (warning the news site is annoying).

Tomorrow we hope to visit Chebeague Island and Sunday might be house cleaning and cooking for the week.

Someone has filled the divets and holes in a concrete retaining wall with dolls and figurines. It is pretty fun.
