Maine Event: Day 49

Another busy workday. It is said that the rainy gray gloom will go away after today and it will be "crisp and clear". It looks like it will rain tonight and my weather projects tomorrow to be cloudy and cool with a high of 61. Then three days of sun with the lows in the mid-forties and the highs in the 60s. 

We walked through downtown to get our mail at the post office and usually we stick to the quieter streets but today we walked back via Congress which is the main drag. In the center of the peninsula is the center which is called Monument Square. In that square is an enormous statue of a Roman goddess who I later looked up to find out it was Nike, the goddess of victory. It is one of the largest bronze statues in the United States and is a monument to honor the 5,000 people who served in the Civil War. Here is a site with more about the statue. This is also the plaza of delicious falafel.

Of course, the day started with a visit to the Clark St. Community Garden.
