ME II: fun with friends

We woke up early and walked down to get our mail. Karl and Rebecca came along and we got bread and they went to the Co-op while we headed home and back to work. We had dinner with K&R at Central Provisions which is a kind of tapas-esque place that is highly regarded. It's one of the first places that we have dined inside and it was lively and crowded. Tomorrow we get the newest COVID vaccine so posting may be short. While we were in the Old Port district we saw the Maine Potters Market which has some outrageously beautiful pottery. I was first introduced to it by my dear friend Paula Coil who hails from Rockland up north and has friends who are pottery artists that sell artwork there. I mean to try to visit again sometime while we are here. It seems we are only down there in the evenings when it is closed.

I've been thinking about baking. As many of you know I brought Yorick my starter with me to Maine. Last year when we were separated it was traumatic for both of us and he nearly died. He is happy as a clam here in Maine. I'm plotting to make dark, dense Danish rye bread otherwise known as rugbrød. Anyway, I'm getting the ingredients. It's also starting to get cool enough that having the oven on for an hour doesn't sound like a death sentence. More on this project as it unfolds.

I'm also tracking that the MOFGA Common Ground Fair is coming right up. It may be just too many people to go but it seems amazing and I love their 2022 poster.
