ME II: on the road

We got up early, took care of our morning tasks, and walked to the transit center down by the Fore River. The bike/walking path follows along a giant road with traffic going quickly and across from that towards the flats below the Western Prom is the new home of Mercy Hospital. Their old home was on Spring Street just a few blocks from us. Those buildings are now being turned into a housing complex. They are preserving the brick buildings but making them into something different on the inside. So on one side is a shallow bay with mud flats as the Fore River gets wider. It's a beautiful jungly place with plants, marshes, and different kinds of trees lining the bay with a dirt trail along the water and a paved trail above it beside the road. We took the paved road as we were rolling our suitcases. The day was fresh and sunny with a small amount of crispness as we set out at 10:45. the low was 43° and the high was 65°. Then we took the train to Boston which was beautiful with miles and miles of leaves turning differing colors from yellow, brown, orange, and red. We arrived in Boston and it was 70° and there was construction everywhere and cars everywhere with sidewalks shut down everywhere. Eventually, we navigated the scene and walked from North Station to nearby South Station (roughly a half-hour walk) to where our hotel is located. Whew. Later we had a nice dinner at an Italian place near the hotel and tomorrow the journey will continue. Looking forward to home while already missing Maine.

No more episodes of Maine by the Mile. That's the end of the show folks.

Goodbye, little Clark Street early morning walk. It's so nice to wake up to you.
