ME III: Love in the air
Happy Labor Day! One of the little things I've noticed is heart symbols on the doors and heart symbols on flags. I mentioned in years past the people here love flags. There are all kinds but these were new to me. Upon a little research, I realized that they were from two different sources. The heart flags - a white background with a red heart - were created as a fundraiser in April 2020 at the beginning of the pandemic to support restaurants and support frontline health workers with food. The hearts on 8.5x11 sheets of paper with a red heart printed on them are everywhere this year. It turns out that since the 1970s there has been a Valentine bandit that on the night of Feb 13 would go and put up these hearts on businesses that were of social value to the community. No one knew who was making the magic happen, many people thought it was some secret organization or group. In the years it has been going on there have been copycat cities that also have a Valentine bandit. Everyone seemed to love it and it turns out that in April 2023 the guy passed away and his wife let the cat out of the bag so to speak As a memorial everyone has put up these hearts on their doorways.

Although it was Labor Day we ended up laboring on the new website. Progress has been made and there is much work to do still.
Sending you all oodles of love,
Tawnia
