Adventure day

Today we packed a lunch and went on a hike with bird watching. We went to Bear Valley Trailhead and then walked up Mt. Wittenberg and over to Meadow, and then back on Bear Valley. Otherwise, a lovely time hanging out with family and eating a fabulous dinner together. Life is pretty good.

This is approximately a 5-mile walk, with the first 2.5 miles uphill and the remainder largely downhill.
European searocket (Cakile maritima). It is considered edible; some people prefer it cooked over raw.
Only a few Velella velella, also known as "by-the-wind sailors".
Brown Pelicans - many juveniles this year.
Great egret unbelievably standing on the chain connecting the dock and caught a fish in front of us.
Nearly full

Sending love,

Tawnia
