Pine Siskin

Today was a workday, and it was even foggy and chilly in Oakland for most of the day. One exciting thing is that I think I heard and saw a Pine Siskin at work in the trees. They are a "rare common" bird that I have an affinity for, and recently we've had several chances to see and hear them. I'm fairly certain one was visiting the forest behind our building, where a large number of birds seem to frequent.

The SF Chronicle has a sobering story about sea level rise in West Marin and specifically Stinson Beach. "By 2060, a third of Stinson Beach’s fabled sandy beach could be permanently underwater. By 2085, when sea levels are expected to rise by 3.3 feet, nearly all seaside homes could flood in a major storm." (SFChronicle/West Marin Feed)
