Plastic Free
I've been thinking for a long time about how to use less plastic, especially single-use plastic. All around us is plastic that could be other materials. Here it is, Plastic Free July, which has never worked for me, in the same way as New Year's Resolutions. I don't need to think about it. I just need to do it and keep doing it. Anyway, this whole journey started for me when we were getting Arrowhead water delivered at work back in 2002, and it was both expensive, and I learned Nestle had purchased it. The anti-Nestle movement is a whole other conversation. Needless to say, I didn't want to contribute to the privatization of water, which is crazy when you think about it. We did a harm-reduction approach and moved to Brita, and I religiously sent back the filters. In that process, I learned about Beth Terry, who at the time was working in IT and wrote a blog called Fake Plastic Fish, which has evolved into My Plastic Free Life. She is much more militant about avoiding plastic. She is a source for me to learn new things and renew my efforts. I'm glad to see businesses starting to try.

Sending oodles of love,
