Radio Fox
Today was foggy and dim all day. It was so hard to wake up. Nothing like taking a walk to get over it, though. So the local radio station here is https://kwmr.org/, which is run by Amanda Eichstaedt, the woman who rents us this cute place. When I was a teenager in Paonia, on Thursday evenings from 6 to 7 pm, a few of us high school students got to come up with programming at https://www.kvnf.org/, the local community radio station. Amanda knew of KVNF and is friends with the daughter of the folks who started that community radio station in 1979. Such a small world.
The other mystery is that we've been hearing a strange, loud sound, almost like a bark or a yell, or a hiss. We listened to possums, raccoons, and coyotes, but none fit the bill. Then last night there was a small pile of scat left on our back door mat. So, after scat research, we discovered it was a Gray Fox (Urocyon cinereoargenteus). Take a listen to this! This is the sound outside our bedroom once, and also in the dark dusk, as we are coming back on the trail too late at night. A little spooky if you don't know what it is. Just close your eyes, and it just gave one "bark" each time.

Have a wonderful day.
Sending oodles of love, Tawnia
