It's Hot (whine)

Today it was 95° and still. Even the birds were hanging around with their mouths open. I worked outside as usual until about noon, and then I wimped out and moved inside. We had left the windows open, and so the house remained cool until about 5 pm. Then it was still cooler than outside, but uncomfortable. We walked downtown and did our grocery shopping, and when we came back, we indulged and turned on the heat pump air conditioner, lowering the inside temperature a bit. Then, after it got a little later, we went out for a walk and I took photos. Apparently, if I'm too hot, I don't notice as much.

There is too much going on politically that makes my stomach hurt. On the bright side, The Cultured Pickle Shop in Berkeley has Indian Pickled Limes! Crossing my fingers, they still have them when we are back. I'm curious if you eat any fermented foods? What kind? Many hot sauce varieties are commonly fermented, as are cheese, kimchi, sauerkraut, kefir... etc

And here is something! Heart Attacks might be an infectious disease. Here is an article about it, and here is the more science-y one in JAHA. I mentioned this to one of the people I work with, who was a nurse, who promptly said, 'Maybe that's why they say floss your teeth to prevent heart attacks.' Except no one ever said that to me, I thought flossing was for healthy teeth!

We also made our one meal that feels like dinner, which requires no cooking. A cup or so of white beans (Eden canned cannellini), 1/4 white onion sliced, tuna fish, 4-5 sticks of celery diced, a good amount of parsley, a little olive oil, red wine vinegar, and s&p. Very simple and very good for hot weather.
