Full Beaver Super Moon

First, let us celebrate this magnificent full moon. It's a supermoon, meaning the Moon is near its closest point to Earth in its orbit, making it appear larger and brighter than a typical full moon. The Beaver Moon is the November full moon and is called this because it's when beavers start to take shelter in preparation for winter. It was also the time to trap beavers for their thick, winter-ready pelts, which could be used for warmer clothing. The moon seems very bright and big, kind of how I think of beavers. It's nice to think of beavers because I don't actually see them so often anymore. The first fossil records of what we call beavers are from 10-12 million years ago. They too came across the Bering Strait.

It rained last night, and it's still damp out with puddles! Lots going on with work, and it gets dark so early.

The young uncoupled crows have returned in great groups to downtown Oakland! This happens every year for a few months in winter. They make a racket and poop everywhere. It's also totally amazing. I've read they stick together for protection and sharing resources and hints about where to find food. They are also trying to find a mate.

This is a time of reflection, community, reset, and gratitude. It's good to be alive.
