Two eagle day

Today was a usual workday. It's still amazing to me how dark it gets so early. Equally so is that it's the middle of November and we just had two days of 80° weather in San Francisco. I know this is our usual summer, but we don't often have a November heatwave. All of my mountain girl seasonality red flags go off. This is not normal. I'm reading a book on climate change called "Saving the Planet without the Bullsh*t" by Assad Razzouk. It's an interesting perspective on what matters and what doesn't, and how much of the small "self-change" pieces are public relations from Big Oil, making ordinary people feel like their use of plastic or whatever is the problem, not that it's flooding the market for free due to subsidies.

On to better news, here is a cool project about preserving the Pipevine Swallowtail butterfly. Here is more about the person who single-handedly changed the outcome. And here is the plant that, if you have any land, you might consider planting because these are amazingly beautiful butterflies (it might take a while for them to find it, but starting now is a good idea!)

I've been feeling a little frustrated with the democrats giving in to Trump - why resist to just give up? Ezra Klein has an opinion piece about why it might be strategic, or if not that, perhaps it has an upside.
