Fish Nite

Today was a usual workday. Busy and even managed to get things done. I'm super itchy with all the pollen. That said, the day was beautiful, and the birds were out. Our fish CSA brought us Black Cod. We made the miso-marinated broiled kind and had asparagus and wild rice with it. Not bad for a weeknight.

I've been reading about the imminent collapse of BART and how they need to increase taxes to keep it running. A few points: BART already receives 384 million annually from taxes we pay (additionally, my daily commute is 10$ and I'm only going a short way). Additionally, BART has about 3,500 employees, and over 200 of them make more than $250,000. This is PUBLIC transportation. There is something very wrong here. NYT article about this.

I've been thinking about San Francisco, and the hills are definitely my favorite part.

I commented about a man smoking a cigar while riding a bike in Oakland, and without missing a beat, he said: "It's iconic!"

7:24 am – 7:14 pm, which is 11 hours and 49 minutes of daylight!

The bird of the day is the American White Pelican. (Fun fact: Brown Pelican's have a wingspan of 79" while a White Pelican has a wingspan of a whopping 108" second only to the California Condor.
