Bobcats and Owls

Today was a fun animal day. Matt started early, so I went for a walk by myself. When driving into the trailhead, three deer a mom, a teenager, and a little one with spots were in the street. I stopped, and the mom took another nibble of a downed branch covered with lichen. The mom and the teenager went to one side, and the baby went to the other, but it felt like he was going to cross to his mom, so I waited. He spent a lot of time in the road. When he finally got over to his mom, she literally walked up to him and kicked him with her front leg. I couldn't believe it.

In the middle of the day, a raccoon was antagonizing the dog - just out of reach. Later, for our evening walk after dinner, we saw a bobcat walking up the trail ahead of us. On the way down, there were bats and Great Horned Owls, and out the window as I write this, we can hear a Great Horned Owl.

This was a rough work week, but now we are on vacation in a beautiful place.
