Maine Event: Day 5

It started off another hot muggy day. I headed out to the farmers market early (it starts at 7 am, I made it around 8 am) and it was lovely. Nothing really to compare to CA markets but wonderful in its own way. Far more people have blueberries and maple syrup :). There are milk vendors who sell milk and milk products like yogurt, kefir, butter, cheese. I got all the stuff on my list plus a kind of apple I'd never heard of called a red ruby. We haven't eaten them yet. Then I found the steepest hill to lug my groceries home. Nothing like the SF hills near our house but a hill nonetheless. I didn't take pictures of the farmer's market because I'm too excited about the food and anxious about all the people. Maybe next time. It's held in a big open park with a big duck pond in the middle. As I was arriving four Canadian geese decided to leisurely cross the street causing a giant traffic jam. Happy to be on foot. 
Later when Matt and I went out to go to the Portland Food Co-op for the groceries that you can't get at the farmer's market it was suddenly 20 degrees cooler and breezy. You can read that as comfortable for Matt and many others and jacket weather for me. I think this is the initial effect of Henri. The next three days are supposed to be rainy but not necessarily cool. So strange. 
I feel like we are settling in. We can walk around without needing to look at google maps and we made our first dinner at home.

The view of the water from downtown by the old port. The first day we have had fog, it is nothing like SF fog. It is not exactly cool and has um...no style.

Lovely buildings on our walk, so many giant brick buildings. 

Dinner was Spicy Buckwheat Noodle Salad from the NYT cooking. Perfect. Thank you.

We only have fancy wine glasses here and all cups are designed for giant people.
