Maine Event: Day 65

Well, we are in the final countdown with only 10 more days to spend here. Islands are definitely on my mind but what else? It was a regular workday today. We finally got the app out the door and now it is the race to get a good orientation package together for our new Web/IT person. 

We had a high of 64° and a low of 43°. It's not that cold but it feels like it has turned a corner. That said, in the middle of the day the sun is hot and it feels really good when you come out of the shadows and into the sunlight. 

I know I talk a lot about food but if you haven't checked out Maine Grains and you cook I think you should. They are just about the coolest thing around here. The next coolest thing is that many people in Maine are crafty and my friend Paula introduced me to the Maine Potters Market. Finally, Ralston Gallery in Rockport is a Maine photographer that I discovered when I was still in California. 

My cooking and nutrition class last night was fun. Part of the class was on reading nutrition labels. Most of the food I eat doesn't come with labels but guidelines for the "bad" stuff like salt, fat, and sugar at the top is that 5% or less is good, 20% or more is not so good. In terms of cooking, we made an all-green soup (kale, mixed salad, spinach, broccoli, and leek) that I thought was going to taste overly healthy but turned out to be delicious. Also, I didn't make it but look forward to making a hummus made with walnuts, roasted red pepper, and pomegranate juice. It will feel more possible when we are back home with a real kitchen with real tools.

Rosehips galore

Every day the house is getting more and more skeletons and other spooky articles.

Very subtle color on the clouds for our sunset. The camera is obscuring it mostly but it was also very a very soft nuance of a sunset.

On our walk this evening we saw many of these arrows. Sometimes we were walking with them and sometimes against them.

Later we discovered this. And a sign that said, "We love runners"
