ME II: Lazy Sunday

We awoke to a crisp clear day with the full spectrum of Maine glimmer. The city, the water, the plants - everything sort of glitters and is crisp and full of color. The old bricks set that off in a wonderful way. I recently had a revelation that the brick sidewalks are not just for beauty but since it rains so much here it reduces runoff and puddling. As I write this we had a spontaneous, unpredicted thundershower that is lasting a few hours. We went on several walks and had a nice quiet day together. The changing seasons make us both a little drowsy.

I'm wondering what other people think about no new gasoline-powered cars sold in California after 2035? Does that seem outrageous? Do you think most people will switch by then? It seems to me that most car manufacturers are making the switch to EVs now and we are in 2022.

In other spacey news: Do go out and look for Jupiter. It's just coming up in the East right now here so mid-sky for the West Coast at about 9pm. It's huge and unmistakable. Also, did you hear about NASA trying to change the course of an asteroid by flying something into it? That sounds crazy to me.

This is a new neighbor that came last night. It's hard to tell in the image but he is probably 10 feet tall and when he is operable his eyes blink and have the ability to look like they are staring at you. It's time for the scary things to come out in Portland. It really is a good city for Halloween with all these old brick fancy houses. They look scary pretty easy.

State Street Church is actually very close to us but it's on a busy street so we are rarely right here. These towers from Spring you can see through four windows in the tower and it gives a deliciously sinister feeling. Here is some history about the place.
