ME II: Magic

Today was a rather cool morning (in the low 40s) which became 80! The middle of the day was super windy from Fiona but no rain or anything else. We went to the Farmers' Market and got turnips, oysters, and flowers. While Matt was away I cooked a bunch and froze meals. So we have food but it felt like an oyster day. The market was busy but not packed because it was still pretty chilly. Later we went to the Co-op for a few things downtown. We also went on a bird and tree walk to the Western Cemetary while it was windy and there were so many birds. I think they were taking refuge in the forest from all the wind.

The magic things are taking place within and without. One bit of pure excitement around these parts is that on the 26th of September (yes in 2 days!) Jupiter will be the closest to Earth in almost 60 years. Jupiter is huge already so it will be extra visible.

Jupiter is really huge. I really don't have the camera for it but it almost looks like the moon or something. Get out there and look. If you are not sure about the night sky I recommend Stellarium, it's an app that can help orient what part of the sky to look at.

There is also a super fun article in National Geographic about a plant that was an ancient cure-all that was eaten into extinction and they think they may have found it. It's a beautiful umbel that sort of looks like fennel and is called Silphion.

Then to wrap it all up we had delicious oysters from Emily.

Sunset at the Western Prom
The sunset at the Western Prom tonight was sweet as usual.
