ME II: play date!
Today was super fun! We took the day off from work to play with our dear friends Karl and Rebecca. First, we went to the farmers' market and got a few things including oysters from Emily. Then after storing our ill-gotten gains we walked down to the Portland Art Museum which is close to where we live but we never made it there before. This was a real treat. This is a bad rendition of a wonderful painting by N.C. Wyeth called Dark Harbor Fishermen. The Wyeths have an outsized presence here in Maine and it was lovely to see more of their artwork. The museum also had some of Andrew Wyeth who is the only person in the family that I knew of previously other than his wife Betsy Wyeth. Here is a site with more about the artwork from the family of artists. Then we went to a handful of stores on the East End (Washington Street) that I've been meaning to go to since before I ever came to Portland but it is just a bit out of our range and it is kind of a loud busy street. However, there is a ferment store and a wonderful cheese shop that doubles as a fancy food shop. Then we returned via Harbor Fish with some local wild Tilefish for dinner. After we cooled down and regrouped, we opted to head down to Novare Res, a fun beer garden. Then we had oysters and made a feast in our tiny kitchen.

Have an engaging evening.
Sending love, Tawnia
