The butterflies of Quane Alley

On most sunny days, when strolling down Quane Alley with the sun on your back, there is likely to be one or more Red Admiral butterflies (Vanessa atalanta) to lighten your step. My lungs are very cobwebby due to the ongoing air quality issues so I didn't get out much, but Quane is right here. That said, the air quality readings are significantly better today if not yet good. Also the high pressure ridge that is off California and Oregon seems like it's going to stick around for a while. The bad air is up and down the coast and worse in the cities. At least we aren't alone.

This goes up every year. It's a multi day event. All years before this one all colors were mixed together. This year is different.
