New bird and new trail
We walked early this morning, and all the usual locals were out walking too. We thought that late morning we would head into town for some lunch food for the week. However, the traffic was unrelenting, and it would have taken a long time to even get to Point Reyes. A little after 4 p.m., we headed out to the car, and there was a new bird in the big Monterey pines across the street. We had to go back to get our binoculars, and lo and behold, there was a Western Tanager. A new bird for both of us. The way to town was a parade of cars and backed-up traffic in all directions. Rotisserie chickens from Side Street Kitchen were sold out until 5:30, so we took a walk and ended up on a side street that led to a lovely set of trails around the back side of the White House Pool. There were so many birds and trails going in all directions. We wandered around, and the time evaporated. After dinner, we went for a little walk at our usual evening destination, and most of the cars were gone. It was 49° this morning and 80° at the height of the day.
